FIRST Scandinavia is hosting 45 delegates from February 24th to 26th, with the focus on collaboration on science education.

The conference began on Estonia’s National Day and was opened by Mayor Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen, who welcomed the delegates to Bodø.

During their stay, the Estonian delegation will be introduced to several key topics such as FIRST Scandinavia, the Newton and First Lego League concepts, the Norwegian educational culture and the economic perspectives in Norway.

– Still a global challenge

They will also gain insight into research and findings related to teaching and Newton. The project aims to strengthen science education and after-school activities in both Norway and Estonia through exchange of experiences and professional collaboration.

The program also includes visits to Saltstraumen and Tuvsjyen, as well as tours of Newton Gildeskål and St. Eystein School.

Founder and CEO of FIRST Scandinavia, Per-Arild Konradsen, is pleased to finally be starting the project.

– Practical and varied teaching of high quality in science remains a global challenge. The collaboration with the Estonian STEM Education Union shows how important it is to work together across borders to strengthen education. This is precisely the core of the concepts we are working on.

As part of the collaboration, FIRST Scandinavia will travel to Estonia in March to visit schools and associations. They will also participate in a development seminar with partners and representatives from FIRST LEGO League in Estonia.
